Wasn't this already replaced by the p-brane model which gives a nice 
explanation for the monitored gravitational effects w/o requiring 
some esoteric kind of matter?

(We still need enough esoteric matter to stabilize rotating black holes 
to turn them into wormholes suitable for zero-latency travel...)
