Back in the '70s Morley made a thing called the Electro-Pik, and
this is pretty much what it was.  It looked strange: a pick with a wire
coming out of it, going to a (typical Morley all-chrome-all-the-time)
stomp box with a pedal.  I never saw one in action, but from the
descriptions I think it must have been an AR envelope generator
and a VCA.  The pick triggered the EG, and the pedal probably
adjusted the attack time.
