[sdiy] sh1000 random note generator help

Brett,

Yes, the random notes are produced by sampling the noise generator
output.

Both the noise level pot and the white/pink switch are designed to
control the random notes. So to get higher notes as well, you might try
to switch to white noise. Pink noise will give more lower end notes. To
increase the 'spread', increase the noise level.

The noise generator output of 1Vpp (there's a trimmer for noise level on
the power PCB) is sent to the noise level pot and pink/white switch. The
pot wiper goes back to the power board for amplification. It is
amplified 15 times and then sent to the VCO board S/H for random note
generation.

So, in short, it sounds like your SH-1000 is in perfect shape! It's a
darn good/fun instrument and I use it all the time!

Subject: [sdiy] sh1000 random note generator help

Hi All

Well after some luck getting parts and help from people on here and ken
stone (big thanks to all) I now have an sh1000 making sound!....even the
case I picked up to replace the damaged one is only 2 serial numbers
away from the original.....guess they were destined to meet again after
30 years in the world ;)
Anyway everything seems to work fine but the random note generator does
not seem to throw notes at the higher end, it is 'playing' the synth
with I guess random notes but they all seem to be on the lower end. Does
anyone have any ideas on what part may be at fault and worth checking?
Also I noticed that the random note generator seems to improve a bit if
the noise level pot is turned up....is the noise source what the random
generator maybe tracks to produce its notes?

Any help would be great

Thanks
Brett
