Hi all,
Easter is over, time to start thinking about this year's SynthDIY UK
meeting. The past couple of years has seen this event take place here
in Cambridge, with my old college providing an excellent[1] venue.
So to get the ball rolling once more, I'd like to gauge the level of
interest for an event this year. Last year we had three scheduled
talks, a great collection of synths (highlights for me were Alan's
massive modular and seeing the Zeit in action!), and lovely weather.
The best date for college is July 23/24 when there will be
accommodation, the music room and the breakfast room available.
I don't want this event turning into an annual "same-ole-same-ole"
event---I would rather remember the good times and not let it turn into
an annual chore. So ideas for new themes would be welcome. Does
anyone know anyone "in the biz" who might like to give a talk? Last
year we had Christoph "Mr.Access" give a talk on getting the Virus onto
music shop shelves. What can we do this year? Are talks a good thing?
Should we have more? Or less? Or none at all?
Perhaps we could have some sort of bring-n-buy as a sideline--an ideal
opportunity to exchange one box of "rubbish" for another box of,
slightly different but nonetheless fascinating, box of "rubbish"[2].
Of course, the weekend would not be complete without a raffle, so ideas
for prizes would also be most welcome.
Cheers,
Neil
