I refined my Google query to this:

electronic filter "quality factor" history

I got things reduced to "only" 3,580 hits.  :)

There seems to lots of very informative electronic filter pages listed, but
so far none of them with a historical perspective. The pages that do
mention "history" are using it in a design sense, and has nothing to do
with a "history textbook" sense of the word.

I'm still looking...
