Well, I do consider myself an "EP" purist.  I don't like lugging the 
rhodes around, but I hope to always have one to play at home and 
record with.  The idea of building a new rhodes is exciting, but 
ridiculous, I think.  I would guess that a new rhodes would have to 
cost $3000 USD or more to cover expenses.  A handful of studios and 
individuals would buy them anyway, but I'm in the much larger group 
that would instead buy a decent used one for a few hundred and then 
spend the other $2500 on other equipment.  I the end, more rhodes 
pianos will stay in service if the service info is generally available 
than if new pianos are built.
