You raise a good point. If this is this fellow's primary business, I
suspect he will have a hard time making decent profit margins. Maybe he'll
have the new Rhodes manufactured in China and keep costs way down?. Maybe
the Rhodes piano line is just a stepping stone on the way to something
larger, or a small piece of an already established and profitable business?
I'm sure that some people would love to have a new Rhodes EP. I just don't
know how many people that is.
I'm not an EP purist, and I suspect that a lot of others aren't as well. As
long as I have some half-decent synth patches with a similar sound, I'm
happy. I don't need the same keyboard action as the original, nor the exact
duplication of every nuance and artifact of the original. It will be
interesting to see how many die-hard fans the Rhodes name has, once
production starts again.
