I've been a TD fan since 1971, and looking at CF's Synth brought back some
really good memories, especially seeing them at Avery Fisher Hall on the first
US tour, 4/5/77 was the date, a reference for you young's! I taped the show,
and traded it to fans all over the world!
The instrument is marvelous...and despite the discussion of the
bandmember's 30+ year old politics, the work itself demands some appreciation! Perhaps
it really doesn't matter if the concentration is kept on the music, and the
creation of instruments that will be what composers need to bring forth the
sounds in their head! In Franke's case, it was providing the Rock-influenced
rhythms that made the music exciting!
Meanwhile, I'll advocate everyone pull out PHAERDA, RUBYCON, RICHOCET,
USA LIVE and CYCLONE (my favorite, because of Steve Jollife's input on Winds and
Lyricon), and the TD BOOTLEG BOXSETS Vol I & II... and as we solder and
breadboard, listen closely to the MUSIC, as it a main reason to be involved with
Synthesizers in the first place!
Thanks Kevin...any chance you'll get to photograph Klaus Schulze's
modular?
