Hi all,

Is it not possible to create a system of FPGA based DIY modules that
contain all of the functions needed for additive synthesis? The
oscillator farm, The EG farm, etc. The control mechanism would also need
to be modular and hardware based.

Why develop software that requires a PC when you can synthesize code
into hardware? As far as an OS could it be done without one?

I think something like this could still be implemented in a pure
hardware solution.

Layer 1 = General - Phat, Funky, Thin, Stringy

Layer 2 = Specific - Basic modulations, Filter effect, Spatial effects

Layer 3 = Granular - Wave shapes, Events and transitions over time,
Application of control functions to groups of parameters

Layer 4 = Primitive - Number of EG transitions available, Number of
Oscillators available
