Heh. I was going to ask you if Dr. Peatman was still teaching. I took his digital design class some 20 years ago, and he was one of the best profs I ever had. My senior project was an Apple II board that had 4 telephone line interfaces w/ DTMF generation and detection as well as CVSD speech on each channel. That was one densely populated board, with a maze of point to point wiring on the back. He gave me an A for it. :)
What he didn't know is, I built it for some phone phreaks who used it to run one of the first automated phone sex operations in the country. They wrote the software, and we were going to sell the hardware & software as a commercial package. Unfortunately for me, they were making so much money off of the phone sex service that they never finished the software (a nightmare of 6502 assembly language). By the time I figured this out, people were doing the same thing on the IBM PC. :(
Ah, to be young and foolish.

PS Dr. Marshall Leach was another great prof. He taught me how to draw a Bode plot. His audio engineering class was one of the few fun classes in EE. Glad to see he's still around too.
