[sdiy] optical retrofit for minis?

Hmmm... good point about the parts. As long as we're forward looking, may as
well look *way* forward, eh?

I wonder if we could just spec bus bar stock and plated springs, and stay
with dead mint refurbishment. :)

Maybe I'll move to Nevada in a few years, buy a mountain, and start a
landfill. Old synths only.

Some more rambling of my own - maybe today's technology will be a problem to
repair in the future? I think for example, in 30 years you still may be
able to find 74xxx stuff or CMOS stuff, but maybe not the exact
photosensors, hall-effect devices, cheap uController pre-programmed parts,
etc. we use now.

In fact, will it be legal to even work on this older stuff - my GOD it has
LEAD in it!!! Maybe the lead police will collect all the older chips and
stick them in some mountain in Nevada? But you would need special
clearances to ship it there - the lead sniffing machines would kick it back
to you with a fine attached. If the lead police have their way, it will
probably be technically illegal to sell the old chips eventually.

BTW, Isn't the keyboard issue resolved by a good midi interface kit?? I
would never advise someone to make a keyboard for a modular now...
