..strangely enough, I do have an encoder in the Sonic Alienator,
all it does is select distortion algorithms.
It isn't divine, it's a standard Alps unit, but nobody has broken one yet,
because it doesn't have a long shaft and big knob on it.
I wish I hadn't replied on this thread! all I was saying was,
1. it appears not unusual for these things to get broken.
2. the replacement units still exist.
