[sdiy] SPI Digital Potentiomters and PIC 18.. not working.. help!

Well.. I got this working.. not as i would have liked to.. but it is working.. i found the application note on their site for SPI to their digital potentiometers via a pic16f877.. which is a diff processor then i'm using, but most of the code is the same.. after making the appropriate changes to the code (registers n such), i loaded it up, and have been hacking at it all day.. then i ran across another sample code in there.. for firmware implementation.. so that what i tried.. works like a charm.. any ideas why my hardware SPI port never worked tho?

this is how my mssp registers are set..
the other hardware does work.. i've got an lcd hooked up
to it as well..

Not a lot of info here Bill.
Do you have any indication that any of the program that you put in the unit is working (ie does the hardware work)?
Did you program the MSSP and clocks correctly for SPI?
You have to get the MSSP port programmed correctly before anything will happen.

I'm using a microhip spi digital potentiometer.. i'm sending data as follows
CS high > low
write command byte (00010001)
write data byte
cd low > high
and nothing is working.. what am i missing? i'm sending the data from a pic18f
please help
