Christian,

The EMU8000 is a wavetable and effect chip. The reported capabilities of
this chips are:

32 Oscillators of 16-Bit, 44100Hz sound.
32 Megabytes of address space. The first 4 are reserved for ROM, and the
last
28 are for RAM. Internally the EMU8000 only has 24-Bit address space.
So
only 16-bit samples can be used.
3 Point sample interpolation.
1 Onboard Digital Effects Processor.
2 Low Frequency Oscillators' per oscillator.
2 DAHDSR Envelope Generators' per oscillator.
1 Resonant Filter per oscillator.
32 Independent reverb send levels for each oscillator.
32 Independent chorus send levels for each oscillator.
1 SP/DIF Digital Output.

So yes your LH64256BD80 is most likely RAM in question. A quick search of
the WEB shows that most EMU8000 info is long gone where there used to be
quite a bit of info down to the register level for this chip.

regards,
p

Subject: [sdiy] held needed - emu sampler broken

My E5000 Sampler is broken since a while.
(theres a nasty noise on the main output and the diagnostik tool shows
"effect ram bad")
Emu is not very helpfull in giving away technical information for there
devices.
(though they dont build hardware samplers anymore)

any chances for schematics or infos about the following ic´s?

LH64256BD80 (DRAM 4*128 ? i think this could be the effect ram?)
EMU8000 IC415A (could this be the effect chip?)

thanks in advance..

christian
