Do you mean his 4069UB VCO?  He calls it a "bench test" VCO, but I think
it's better than that.  It has PWM as well as sawtooth output and uses
one of the easiest parts to find (and least expensive) ever, the 4069UB.
 The one I built covers a 9 octave range (I stopped testing after 9),
it's extremely simple, it took me an hour or so to build on stripboard. 
It's very musically linear.
