[sdiy] More analog kickdrums

to my mind, the most important element is having separate decay envelopes
for the pitch and amplitude. zappy kicks and 909s are both possible with
this architecture, zappy ones just have a deeper pitch envelope. aside from
this, some sort of impact tone is nice, although if you just mix the trigger
signal in, the 707's rim trigger (i'm assuming that's what you would use?)
is pretty rough sounding; more harmonics than just a pulse. the tama modules
are a great start for kicks, it's pretty easy to get rid of the emphasis
circuit and use its op amp to clone the existing eg. then you just have to
disconnect the original eg from the vca and substitute the new one. now the
old eg just controls pitch and the new one controls volume. this is what i
use in combination with my 707. it would be tough to fit a tama circuit in
the 707 case though.
