[sdiy] More analog kickdrums

I'm thinking about modding my TR-707 to feature an analog bass drum,
preferably of 909-ish flavour. However, I would also like to be able
to do traditional "trance"/EBM kicks, which are usually much more
synthetic and "laserzap" sounding, somewhat like

(sorry, I found no better example online; I really mean a sound a bit
more "laserzappy" than that)
The 909 bass drum circuit seems a bit too complex for my purposes. The
ADV Bass doesn't seem to have quite the sound I'm looking for. OTOH,
the sound sample sounds as if it is drenched in reverb, perhaps it
sounds better IRL? I found no dry samples online. Has anybody built it
and know if it would fit my purposes?
If not, do you guys have any other simple bass drum circuits to
recommend? The PAIA one? Perhaps I should just breadboard a few of
them, but I'm still putting together my surplus parts order :-)
