As the incoming signal rises, a short rising pulse appears at the output of
IC1 pin 7. This goes to the impact circuit as well as firing other parts of
the circuit. If pin 7 is staying high and falling when you give a trigger
in, you probably have pins 5 and 6 swapped. The length of the click is
determined by the ratio between C2 and R20.  I would add another resistor
directly across the input jack - something that is lacking from this design,
and really should be there.
