Don't know your circuit but probably a analogue kick (drum)?
The pulse feeds energy into a resonating system (double T filter?)
Decay and pitch both depend on the filters center frequency and Q.
Quite similar to a stick hitting a drum head actually, the drum heads size
and tension set the decay and pitch.
Think you can figure what happens if you change the voltage level of the
trigger?
How about using a short pulse train (or rectified noise) instead of just one
pulse? plenty room to experiment :)
As for the click part, usually it's the trigger pulse is mixed into the
audio signal.
