Yes and no.  Yes, you can in theory...and some of the people here have done 
so.  You have to keep in mind that the tempco that is traditionally used it 
a positive temperature coefficient.  Thermistors are negative temperature 
coefficient.

For another alternative...I temperature compensate without using either 
tempcos or temperature controllers...
