No experience but plenty of interest.  As a kid, the local PBS
station had a video synthesis program on briefly at one or two AM
in the morning.  Absolutely fascinating.  Always wanted to tinker
but no time.  In addition to the usual candidates from the 60's
onwards, there's one of the earliest visual synthesizers:

to see in action....
