17th ACF/LA COMPOSERS SALON AT TUTTUMEDIA , VENICE CA

On July 31st , Tuttomedia will be hosting the 17th ACF Composers Salon
series featuring composers Nedra Wheeler, Giovanna Imbesi and Peter
Grenader.

Among other pieces presented, Peter Grenader will be premiering an
electro-acoustic work entitled The Ascent into Light,  in memory of John S.
Waddell.

The acf/LA Composer's Salons are informal Sunday afternoon gatherings
designed to give professional composers, improvisers and sound artists the
opportunity to get to know each other's work, exchange ideas, and network
among their peers. Every two months on a Sunday afternoon, each Salon
features three composers who present fifteen minutes of their work,
preferably in a live performance. After each presentation, there is a Q&A
session, moderated by noted composer Ms. Alex Shapiro. Questions to the
presenting composers range from the very technical and specific, to
aesthetic-philosophical concerns of composing and music-making, to business
and "survival" topics. Often, discussion ensues (and is encouraged) among
audience members. 

Of particular importance to the Salons is an adequate representation of the
rich stylistic range of the Los Angeles music and sound-art scene: acf/LA
Salons have showcased music that reaches from Avant-garde to Avant-pop, from
New Music to New Jazz, from EurAmerican to Non-Western traditions. Past
presenting composers include Morton Subotnick , William Kraft, Anne
LeBaron,, Don Preston, Vinny Golia, Double Naught Spy Car, Amy Knoles, Kraig
Grady, and many more.
