Thanks all for the suggestions.  The legs on regulators indeed did crack 
during apparently a rough overseas journey.  Harmonic resonances from 
engine noise or who knows what.  That thing was riding on a great 
cushion support.  The poor guy jumped the gun and took it to a local 
tech who charged 150 to fix the problem :-(.  I'd have walked him 
through it if he could solder.  Oh well.  Anyway glad it finally worked 
out well. And if the guy who suggested I give his money back is 
watching..... sometimes patience...is a virtue :-)  -Bob
