The MXR probably has the sounds stored as 8 bit u-law like the Linn, DX, DMX, Drumulator, Drum Trax etc

There's two sound utilites here called WAV2DMX (to go from wav to DMX etc format) and DWAV to go from EPROM binary image to WAV.  Run the later on your binary images to check if everything is OK.
