[sdiy] 'Decoding' Drum machine sample ROMs?

[Apologies if this is not appropriate, but I figured that this group was most
likely to be able to help!]
So, I fixed the keypad on my MXR DrumComputer last night, so it is now in
saleable condition (I've had it about ten years and, apart from an odd dabble,
I haven't used it at all!). For those that don't know, the MXR DrumComputer 185
is a sample-based drum machine much in the same vein as a LinnDrum - each drum
sound residing on one or more EPROMs.
Before I sell it, I thought that it would be a good idea to get the sounds into
a form suitable for my sampler...
... Using an EPROM programmer/reader (Dataman S4) borrowed from work, I have
dumped the kick drum and found that the data is not quite as I'd expected! What
I think has been done is (for ease of PCB routing) address lines and/or data
lines have been re-ordered; with the result that the kick EPROM sounds like
nasty digital noise :(
So, my question: is there any reasonable strategy to finding out the correct
ordering of the data/address lines (I can write a program which will re-order
the data if I know the scrambled order!) - or better still, does anyone know
what order the address lines are connected!?
I don't know the sample rate, but I assume that the sounds would be simple 8-bit
samples (EPROMS are 2716 and 2732)
Cheers,
john..
