These types of remarks tend to be reactions to prevailing fashion.  If 
all other bands are doing THIS, then we'll go over here and do THIS 
(which is a different THIS from the first THIS).  Tragically, as a 
drummer I shudder when I listen to the prevailing fashion in acoustic 
drum recording in the mid to late '70s.  (Actually I don't even need to 
listen to it, just thinking aboot it will cause me to shudder.  Oh oh!  
Just thought aboot it.  Can't type... too busy shuddering.....)
