So it's either the keyboard itself (mechanical or electrical problem) or 
the keyboard processor which does the scanning. A set of 8 looks like an 
entire row is not responding.

For testing, you could build an adapter which just swaps the row lines. 
If you now have the non-responding keys moved to another location, it's 
the processor.
