As for cleaning the key contacts, careful rubbing with Q-tips and
isopropyl alcohol, both on the rubbers and the board, worked just
fine for me.
And if all suggestions and advise offered don't help, and it turns
out you were right and it's time to replace the contact strips, you
can always click the URL below. ;-)
