I would consider stuff like running rhythmical loops through software
plug-ins and resampling the sequence as many times as you need to obtain a
desired effect. Plug-ins like Gates, Frequency divider, ring modulation,
extreme chorus, stereo modulation, etc will mosh any rhythmic audio files
quite a bit. (P.S. try the gate)
If you want to obtain nice rhythmic patterns, I'd consider Live more than
Logic because of its simplicity and intuitivness of use.
Then, the only thing you need is a phat analog modular synth... Or 2...
In case you didn't spend the last 40 years building this analog monster, a
nice synth that you know like the palm of your hand will do just fine.
