I think allot of it is done by creating loops and heavily mangling them.
Then taking these new loops and chopping them up and creating more loops.
These loops are then imported into a sequencer and layered and tweaked like
crazy. I saw Autechre play here in SF recently, and it was awesome! They
played very aggressively. They played everything out of laptops. No synths.
I think they used some kind of external controllers and mixers but that was
it. All the music was perfect with no errors. Everything had already been
setup.
