[sdiy] OT: making "IDM"

listening to autechre and loving it i wanted to understand how they do this 
type of stuff its gotta be done on a computer sequencer ( i am using logic 
5.5 PC) and lots of seemingly random stuff is going on in their music but it 
remains cohesive somehow ...anyone else doing similar music? and if so how ?
