That makes sense. I think I abbreviated my question a bit though.
What I was meaning was couldn't you do what these circuits do with
simpler circuits based of FET's.
I was reading some stuff on FET theory the other day and may be remembering 
something wrong.
I think what made me think about it was the fact that I had all of those FET 
pairs so they must be good for something.
I just haven't ever seen them used on a schematic.
Except maybe an audio preamp.
