Hey,
Anybody seen the inside of the Voyager?
My guess is that Bob is probably making very good use of IC references 
in there. Not very many good inexpensive references  in the early 70's, 
just temperature-compensated Zeners rather than the more stable 
buried-zener or bandgap references which are preferred nowadays.
