At the time I was just wanting something halfway decent and polyphonic to
run through my Dim C. I wanted an 8000 and had looked at the feature set of
both, but the only 8000 up at the time was a bit.....dubious.

I've always been very intrigued by the DSS-1, too.

I'm not sure what was on mine when I got it, but they didn't last long =0).

To be honest, I'll probably not buy anything else until the DW6000 gasps its
last. I have a hard time using anything 'purchased' to make music. For me
it seems to be a compulsion to keep it as DIY as possible. Some may call
that an unnecessary restriction, but it's not my career. I like the fact
that the means to produce the sounds (or at the very least modify them) were
wrought by my own hands.

In the case of polyphony, my brand of DIY just ain't going to get me there
(hence the purchase of the DW6000). But, I've never recorded the DW6000
without running it through something homemade to add a bit of the un-buyable
to it.

Do others feel this compulsion and simply resist, or am I just confirming my
weirdness once and for all?

Cheers,
Scott
