[sdiy] OT: Do you guys know what's going on on eBay?

The DSS-1 is great. It's really more a synth than a sampler: it can
make a lot of the same sounds as the DW8000, plus the tiny "samples"
you get from the disks, and it even lets you "draw" your own
single-cycle waves with the slider. But the real kicker for me was the
twin digital delays, whose delay time can be set in milliseconds, or
swept by two dedicated LFOs, and they can be hooked up in series OR
parallel for all sorts of bizarre flanging/chorus type effects.

Someday I'm going to build a delay unit like that in a box by
itself... that's the DIY connection.

Seems like you can find DSS-1's all over for peanuts; the only reason
I sold mine was because it was too big to move to a new home. I guess
that's the same reason a lot of them get sold.
