ok ok ok i have more to say .... the EMU e4 ultra is a amazing machine i 
have never touched one but i know what it is capable of (danny elfman had 4 
of them at one time) the Zplane filters are amazing and the RFX card is 
somewhat inexpensive ($250) the RFX card adds audio through the internal fx 
(including the Z-plane filters) now on to some SDIY ...the emus have 
something called "transform multiply" and it is described as "boosting 
similar frequencies and attenuating dissimilar frequencies" i think that 
this is convolution ...but it seems like something that could be done in the 
analog realm with maybe balanced modulation ? i am not sure but it has had 
my intrest for sometime
