The real insanity is what some things that aren't that great go for. Last
February I bid on, and got a Korg DW6000, which is a pretty nice polysynth
for the price I paid, which was something like $102. It's not a DW8000, but
it's still nice.
At the same time, I was eying a Yamaha VSS-30 Sampler. Not that I wanted
it, but rather I couldn't believe the bids it was pulling in. If one is not
familiar with the VSS-30, it's a slightly more rigged out version of the
Casio SK-1 thing. A toy, IMHO. I've got one I paid $20 for new in the
'90's. Played with it, got bored, stuck it in a closet and forgot about it
until I saw this auction.
The damn thing sold for more than I paid for the DW6000. Suspecting
overlooked mojo, I pulled mine out and hooked it up and....it's still a
mystery to me. A complete and utter mystery.
Synth DIY content - I suppose one could bend the VSS-30 and have a ball.
Cheers,
Scott
