Well, since you all asked...
In order of influence -
Originality: Breaking new ground is always good.
Creativity: Clever solutions to problems is the hallmark of a good DIY
project.
Usefulness: Is this something that has a wide range of application in
electronic music?
Availability: How easy is this to replicate? Also, price plays a minor role
here. There are some very impressive, and very expensive projects here, and
I can't help but think the expensive ones are out of reach for many DIYers.
Degree of difficulty: Sometimes a simple project is the best, but it's hard
not to be impressed by a complicated project that is pulled off well.
Personal Favorite: Hard to ignore a project that appeals to you, but try to
think if it will also be something used and enjoyed by other DIYers.
Cheers!
