IMO, *the* definitive cap guide was written by this list's own Harry
Bissell.

Missing however, is the "lost chapter", where Harry advises the best use of
a capacitor with a BBD.  This technique involves gluing a 10 uF, 10V
tantalum cap directly onto the BBD and applying +15V on the negative tant
lead and -15V on the positive tant lead (for some reason, the technique
requires safety glasses). =0)
