[sdiy] newbie question

hello,

first of all, sorry for the newbie questions.

I wanted to do a summer project of making a little synthesizer that I
could stick some 1/4" input/outputs on. I was wondering if anyone had
any schematics that are for a bare bones type of synth. Just looking
at some devices online and toying around with software synths, I've
decided that I would want to make one that has three oscillators in a
series circuit, I would like a sawtooth pattern, I would like to have
five switches or perhaps sliders that would divide the frequencies
into five groups (low end, low-mid... etc), i would like an LFO that
can be switched on and adjusted to make differing speeds of signal
pulses and hopefully be able to emulate granulation by having very
fast pulsing through the LFO.

Does this sound too ambitious to you seasoned professional DIYers? I
have put together one of those PIAA tube amps (the guitar one, not the
mic preamp that i should have done...), I am somewhat knowledgable in
electronics, and can do little things like fix my headphones, and make
an XLR cable with an open side for my 70's shure mic mixer :).

Any help for a beginner? I am hoping to find schematics and maybe a
good supplier for oscillators, LFO's and the like. I have no idea
where to start, unfortunately :(. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you SO much in advance,

jeff
