We had broadband access installed, via cable TV. The installer was
basically incompetent. When he left, none of the internet features were
working! Apparently, he only knew how to plumb video cable through the
house. Come to think of it, he was supposed to route the cable to two rooms
for the same basic price, and somehow managed to leave with only one room
hooked up.
To be honest, I'm glad he didn't connect anything else, because I had no
faith in him at that point. I contacted the company's "Helpless Center" on
the telephone, and finished the installation myself. I did the remaining
hardware work on my end, and they finished some of the missing
configuration/registration details on their end (which the cable guy was
supposed to have seen to himself.)
What has this got to do with Synth-DIY? Well it -was- DIY, and it -is- the
method I use to access the Synth-DIY list.
