Hey Tim

Good to meet ;)

Dare I suggest a circuit bending project for the robot...i know these
speak etc and make lots of noises so it could be a wild cirucit bent
instrument!

Cya

Subject: [sdiy] Intro and Question: Any Useful Parts in my Robot?

Hi list,
I have been lurking for about a year now and it's time to say HI. Since
finding this list I have become very interested in synth DIY and have
started slow by building a few kits. My first kit was the P9700 modular
synth from Paia, I enjoyed that kit very much and ordered an extra
MIDI2CV and VCO module to go with it. I recently built a variable power
supply to make testing things a bit easier, and I am currently working
on the VCO section of my x0xb0x kit. Once the x0xb0x is done I will
start on a Soundlab Mini Synth board that my wife got me for my birthday
(what a lady!).

A friend who noticed my new hobby gave me a broken robot. My robot is a
Heathkit Hero1 and it looks like a pretty awesome gadget. I fixed it up
a bit but apparently the batteries are shot and the little guy complains
about it incessantly. I am more interested in Synth-DIY than Robot-DIY,
and so I'm thinking of getting rid of the robot. I was going to post a
note at the local university to see if someone would consider the robot
plus cash for a scope (which I am sorely lacking) but recently it
occurred to me that he may be full of useful parts!

Does anyone out there know if these old robot kits had any components
that are of use in SDIY?

Thanks and nice to meet you all,
Tim
