[sdiy] burned, soda-soaked SH-101 (with pics)

Seeing there is a big cap & an inductor next to the diode,
I suspect it is some kind of protection diode, say a 1N4001.

Maybe someone reversed the voltage & then poured Coke on it to stop the smoke??
