displaying Video could be easier to do than audio cause the eye is slower than the ear... You can skip a frame or even half of the frames in a video sequence and nothing happens, you might not even notice (depending on the squence), if that happens in audio you are screwed.

Hmmm... Not sure about the 6800, but with the Z80 you might be able
playing tricks using the Refresh register. If it's good enough for video
generation, it ought to be usable for audio.
