I'd love to show too. I'll have to wait til we get closer to see if
I'll be available to make a trip then though. I don't know what you
guys do at these. Maybe I can throw in the Crumar DS-1 I just got today
for show and tell :-). Only about a hundred of these in the world I
hear. I'm going to have to put up some pics of the insides. Looks
pretty hand wired. Really decent construction! Crumar...cheap? They
used mother boards with pin edge board interconnects for all the digital
stuff on the left and some analog there. There's an analog board in the
bottom with 4 or 5 3080's and several transistor arrays and op amps
power supply in a metal enclosure on the right and another small board
under the key board. And then all the front panel stuff of course.
Really laid out nice to work on. EXCELLENT solder job. I haven't found
a knuckled joint yet after going through all the boards on the left and
cleaning the interconnect pins and sockets...oh yes every chip in this
thing is socketed!! The keyboard is totally unique to me. Sort of
Pratt-Read in design but better except no screws holding down the key
caps. A couple started to come off as the glue has become brittle over
the years. A little goop adhesive and it's all nice again. I'll post a
pic of the key also and see if anyone recognizes it from other units
(DS-2, Multiman?) Nice quality switches and pots. Cleaned them up they
seem to work fine. I still only have one note play though. Figure that
out and I think it will all be working! --Bob
