I only used them in prototype VCO, and they work fine, although I didn't make any decent measurements. I think I also used them in another prototype of VCA also with great results.
AFAIR Jorgen Bergfors used them as expo pair in his VCO and is showing some measurements on his website.

But recently posted DMMT3904 from www.diodes.com look even more promising. They are 0.5$ in singles.
