Every major city should have at least one dealer in surplus machinery.
Availability of used punch presses is high and prices continue to fall.
Where I bought the Roper-Whitney No. 17 with punches and dies for $225.00
there was a larger turret press for not much more. There warehouse was
bulging at the seams with quality used machine tools at bargain prices.
I will leave it to you to figure out why so much quality machinery is
available for little money.
Every will equipped shop should have a No. 5 Jr punch kit. Mine is over 50
years old and still works like new.
Step drills with a Rockwell hardness rating are a reasonable altenative for
a small number of holes.
Take care,
John
