Thanks for the responses on this subject

.. so all my Pb-free components are going in ziplock bags filled with 
nitrogen, and a couple of mothballs just to be on the safe side ;)

Seriously though since my components are stored in little plastic 
drawers in a dry environment I'm not going to worry too much.  If after 
8 years I have to throw a few things, or use a super-strength flux 
solder then it's not the end of the world :)

Incidently I wonder if TI actually took 8 years to come to these 
findings - I think not.  As Harry says, time will tell!
