I don't think there's any evil plot here. It's not like modular 
manufacturers are raking in the dough and  driving their Jaguars to their 
mansions. No sane person would start such a company for the "money." They, 
by default, must do it for the love of synths. Anyone brave enough to 
start a modular manufacturing company is a benefit to the community as 
a whole. A smart manufacturer adapts to their customer's needs...
