yep, a couple of years ago I made various plans for such a thing,
based around a Scenix SX chip + AD / DA... but never found the
time to build or even prototype it (although all computer simulations
I did were promising)...
there were different variations, including a VC-DCO / waveshaper
using Bezier curves... I even posted a few diagrams on this list,
but didn't trigger much reactions...
